Code of Practice, Access to Council and Committee Meetings and Associated Documents (section 92 Code of Practice)

Consultation has concluded

Consultation Description

Feedback is being sought on Council’s:

This Code sets out Council’s commitment to provide public access to Council and Committee meetings and documents.

Background

Under section 92 of the Local Government Act councils must prepare and adopt a code of practice to govern public access to meetings, documents and minutes of council and committee meetings.

There is a further requirement that councils ‘must, within 12 months after the conclusion of each periodic election, review the operation of its code of practice’.

As part of the review of this code of practice before a council adopts, alters or substitutes its code of practice it must consult the community on the proposed Code of Practice.

At its April 2019 meeting, Council reviewed its Code of Practice and is now seeking community feedback on the Code of Practice.

To clearly show the suggested changes additions to the policy are shown in red and deletions are shown with a strike through and highlighted in yellow.
