NLC Strategic Plan Review

Consultation has concluded

Community feedback has now closed on Council's new Draft Strategic Plan, and we thank you for your input.

The new Strategic Plan has been drafted from the first phase of community consultation which involved Focus Group and Community Meetings, Elected Member workshops and submissions on what the community identifies as new priorities for the future.

You can read through the Draft Strategic Plan in the Documents library on this page - it's currently presented in 'content only' format and it will be graphically designed in its final stages.

Councils are required to undertake a major review of their Strategic Plan within two years following a Local Government Election.

The new Strategic Plan will set the vision, outcomes, and key actions for the future and help inform Council’s Long-Term Financial Plan and Asset Management Plans.

The first phase of consultation has identified 6 key Strategic Directions for 2023-2033 and Priority Actions for 2023-2028.

The 6 Strategic Directions are:

Plan for and manage growth

Embrace our cultural diversity

Grow the visitor economy and our regional service hub

⭐ Preserve our natural environment and enhance our built assets

⭐ Invest in key infrastructure and assets

⭐ Activate our recreation, events, arts and culture opportunities

The 31 Priority Actions include:

Develop and implement a strategy for housing, including identifying opportunities for the Council to facilitate the availability of additional land for housing

Co-design, develop and implement a Cultural Partnership Plan

Develop and implement a plan that identifies current and future needs and the potential for growth as a regional service hub

Investigate potential roles for the Council in relation to economic development, including tourism

Undertake a review of the Naracoorte Town Centre Rejuvenation Plan

Review service standards for urban spaces

Review and activate the Lucindale and Frances Masterplans

Prioritise and implement projects set out in the Naracoorte Creek Masterplan

Undertake a service review relating to Council roads

Review the roadside vegetation maintenance and management program

Work with the Naracoorte Regional Livestock Exchange Board to scope and develop business cases for potential improvements (and funding sources) to maintain high levels of service

Develop a Council-wide plan for recreation, arts, and culture

Progress the Naracoorte Regional Sports Centre project to the detail design and costing phase

Undertake a feasibility study for the potential of growth in sport and recreation in Lucindale

You can read through the Draft Strategic Plan in the Documents library on this page.

The summary report on the outcomes from the first phase of community consultation on the Draft Strategic Plan, 'What We Heard', can also be found in the Documents library on this page.
