Consultation has concluded
Naracoorte Lucindale Council has endorsed the draft Naracoorte Lucindale Wellbeing Plan 2021-2023 for community consultation and would love your feedback!
The draft Naracoorte Lucindale Wellbeing Plan 2021-2023 outlines a broad overview of how Council can contribute to a safe, healthy and resilient community, as identified as a key outcome in Council’s Strategic Plan 2016-2026.
One of the key initiatives implemented to achieve this Plan is through the Naracoorte Lucindale Wellbeing Program, a funded partnership project between the Naracoorte Lucindale Council and the South Australian Government under the Statewide Wellbeing Strategy.
The four key focus areas of the Naracoorte Lucindale Wellbeing Program are:
Increase opportunities to be active
Improve wellbeing through food
Strengthening community engagement and social connectedness
Supporting positive mental health and wellbeing
You can read the draft Plan in the documents library on this page, and there is also a guest book below for comments.
The guest book will be open for comments until 1st February 2022.

That's a comprehensive plan! I'm looking forward to programs through our new Naracoorte Library, and am also interested in the various exercise/yoga opportunities. The return of our various community events, as soon as we are able to, will be much appreciated. Here are some things I feel will improve a sense of wellbeing/community; * The Park Run course badly needs resurfacing. * Ongoing support/lobbying for maintaining and improving Naracoorte Hospital is vital, and we must ensure it isn't further downgraded. We're lucky to have a new Clinic opening as other towns struggle to maintain doctor numbers; I'm sure this will reduce appointment waiting times and feel that they will be made very welcome in Naracoorte. * Is there a corella control program currently? Recently, these noisy birds seem to be out of control. * In relation to keeping public areas rubbish-free, I would like our Council to seriously consider a free hard rubbish collection at least once annually - others offer this and their ratepayers welcome the service. Good luck with the progression of this plan.

Naracoorte Soroptimists welcome the work being done to improve community wellbeing and appreciate the opportunity for feedback. Club members raised a question about the age limits for participation in the pilot exercise programs - it seemed we weren't old enough for full participation. A wider age range would perhaps be of benefit?

Naracoorte Lake parkrun is a free weekly walk/run event which would work in conjuction with this plan. An organised running group during the week would also be of benefit to community members. It would provide social connections, benefit mental health, and can be inclusive for all levels, from walkers to more experienced runners.

I wonder if there is some way for this plan to incorporate COTA’s “Strenght for Life” program. One of the local gyms used to run it but it fizzled out due to various reasons. This is a terrific program to assist over 55’s maintain strength, balance & mobility through an individualised set of activities in a supported environment. I do believe however, that there is an annual fee for providers to pay in order to run the program. Failing this, could any future programs run exercise only sessions for Seniors, in addition to the more generalised ones which have previously been held by the Physios? I wouldn’t mind paying say $5 per session for such a program.

Fully supportive of this plan, specifically as it will provide a conducive environment for businesses and community to enhance their offerings. We know through research that the tourism sector now has a strong emphasis on wellness, self-care and connection to country. This plan will enable us to link together new and existing experiences to improve our story telling of the Limestone Coast and appeal to the new traveller as we emerge from restrictions. Events play a critical role in celebrating our lifestyle and communities while attracting (sometimes triggering) new or returning visitors. This plan outlines a number of opportunities and themes for events which we look forward to supporting.
