Draft Local Area Housing Strategy Released for Feedback
Naracoorte Lucindale Council has released for feedback a Draft Local Area Housing Strategy to guide future housing expansion and growth.
The Draft Naracoorte Lucindale Council Local Area Housing Strategy: Growth to 2051 has been prepared in alignment with the South Australian Government’s Limestone Coast Regional Plan, which establishes a long-term framework for growth across the region over the next 15 to 30 years.
The Regional Plan identifies land and infrastructure required to support housing and employment, with a key focus on ensuring sufficient land supply while managing appropriate expansion of towns. Council’s Draft Local Area Housing Strategy aligns actions with the broader Regional Plan, as well as Council’s Strategic Plan and town masterplans.
The alignment aims to ensure that:
Future housing growth can be coordinated and supported by infrastructure;
There is a consistent approach to planning across the Council area, and;
Planning to cater for different land uses is well considered.
The Draft Strategy includes strategies around urban infill renewal, identifying new land use opportunities and exploring opportunities for accommodation to meet the housing needs of short-term and long-distance commuter workers.
Consultation provides an opportunity for the community, stakeholders, and relevant agencies to review the document and provide feedback, ensuring the final Housing Strategy is well-informed and reflective of local priorities.
The community is invited to review and comment on the Draft Strategy from 9am on Wednesday 6 May 2026 to 9am on Wednesday 27 May 2026. You can have your say in the following ways by:
