Council seeks community feedback on Draft Disability Access & Inclusion Plan 2025-2029
Naracoorte Lucindale Council is seeking community feedback on its second Disability Access & Inclusion Plan (DAIP).
Aligned with the State Disability Inclusion Plan 2025-2029, the Council’s Draft Disability Access & Inclusion Plan 2025-2029 aims to ensure residents and visitors can continue to participate in all aspects of community life.
It includes projects to provide accessible community events, places and spaces, and services and programs to support those living with disability.
Community feedback is now invited on the Council’s Draft DAIP until 21 November 2025 before it is presented to Council for adoption. It will then supersede Council’s existing DAIP, which has been in place since 2020.
Key achievements from the existing DAIP included: disability access to the Naracoorte Library + Town Hall facility with the redevelopment in 2022, construction of an accessibility ramp to the Naracoorte Sound Shell stage, construction of kerbing access ramps in identified parts of the Naracoorte township, the introduction of more accessible carparks, and the installation of an accessible-friendly park table in the Naracoorte Town Square.
Specific actions in the Draft DAIP 2025-2029 include: the design for access to the second storey of the Naracoorte Town Hall, installation of an accessible compliant ramp and stairs at the Naracoorte Swimming Lake, construction of a raised accessible carpark near the Naracoorte Post Office, footpath upgrade and crossovers in Lucindale’s Musgrave Avenue, and the installation of more accessible street furniture in the Naracoorte town centre.
Naracoorte Lucindale Mayor Patrick Ross says councils are often the key driver of services and programs that enhance social inclusion, and community health and wellbeing.
“Whether through delivering programs at our community venues, provision of attractive and relaxing open spaces, design of new assets, consideration of planning rules, forming policies or employing staff and volunteers, we must always work towards building an inclusive and accessible environment for all,” he says.
You can view the Draft DAIP in the Documents Library on this page or you can collect a hard copy from Council's Naracoorte or Lucindale offices or the Naracoorte Library. Hard copies in large print format can also be provided on request.
