Crown Land Joanna

Consultation has concluded

Feedback is sought on the proposal for Council to hand back care and control of the following parcel of community land to the Crown (State Government):

  • section 430 - Hundred of Joanna contained in Crown Record Volume 5677 Folio 748
  • located on the Edenhope Road in the Wrattonbully area

Total area is 1.23 Hectares (3.04 acres), and includes an old and unkept tennis court. The area is highlighted in yellow in the picture. There are no other improvements. Native Title has been extinguished on this parcel of land.

Council has received an expression of interest from a member of the community to purchase the land.

As this is Crown Land, Council cannot sell the land, however, Council can return care and control of the land to the Crown (State Government). The interested party can then negotiate the purchase with the State Government.

The Land is dedicated for recreation purposes, however it has not been used for recreational purposes for some years.

The land was previously leased by the Wrattenbullie Progress Association and stocked for fire prevention purposes. The association sub-leased the land to an adjoining neighbour, this expired in 2013. The neighbour has continued to maintain and occupy the land on behalf of the Progress Association.

The Wrattenbullie Progress Association surrendered the Lease as of 30 June 2019 due to lack of funds and lack of use. Therefore, Council is responsible for maintaining the land.

Council has never used this land and not identified any future use for the land, therefore, the land is surplus to Council’s requirements.
